Marinair Ships Stone Church from Greece to Australia

Marinair Ships Stone Church from Greece to Australia

We are pleased to highlight an exceptional project completed by our member, Marinair Cargo Services, who recently transported a stone-built Orthodox church from Thessaloniki, Greece, to Sydney, Australia. This highly specialized shipment required advanced planning, technical precision, and seamless coordination across multiple stages of the logistics chain.

Carefully loaded and secured on a 1×20’ Flat Rack container, the project involved extensive preparation to ensure safe and compliant handling for such a delicate architectural structure.

Project Scope Included:

  • Comprehensive inspection and loading study before dispatch
  • Precise lashing and securing of the 14,760 kg structure using heavy-duty chains, tension belts, and wooden reinforcements
  • Customs clearance and full supervision of port operations in Thessaloniki
  • Complete coordination of the sea route to Sydney, ensuring correct handling at every transshipment point

The cargo consisted of stone dome sections and structural elements of a small Orthodox church—highly sensitive pieces that demanded perfect balance, protection, and technical accuracy throughout the loading and securing process.

This project serves as a reminder that in logistics, no two shipments are alike—and every special cargo requires unique expertise and exceptional care.

At Marinair Cargo Services, combining technical know-how, reliability, and a strong service commitment ensures that even the most complex consignments reach their destination safely and efficiently.

We congratulate our valued member for this remarkable achievement and their continued dedication to project cargo excellence within our global network.
